Quaker Hill Announces New Director

The Quaker Hill Conference Center, located off Highway 27 and Waterfall Road at 10 Quaker Hill Drive, announces Rodney Waltz as its new executive director. Waltz comes to Quaker Hill from Hayes Arboretum where he served as executive director for 12 years and superintendent of buildings and grounds for 11 years. He is an active member of the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce and Sylvan Nook Church of Christ. He is also an adjunct professor at Indiana University East.

Rod is a native of Wayne County, thus has experienced Quaker Hill Conference Center (QHCC) and its unique history. He says, "I can remember as a high school student coming out for a luncheon conference with my father and appreciating its uniqueness even then. I believe an organization's greatest strengths are its faith, its supportive people and its mission. I believe QHCC has all of these qualities and a rich historical setting."

The Quaker Hill Conference Center campus includes historic (1855) Evans House, which served as a refugee resettlement during WWII; Woodard Lodge, which once housed the American Friends Service Committee clothing room and is on the site of a former barracks; as well as tree shaded lawns, a picnic shelter and walking trails through woods leading to the Whitewater River and Thistlethwaite Falls.

Rod has a vision for Quaker Hill, "to honor our past and yet provide a facility that is relevant to the needs of today's guests and visitors. QHCC has many things to offer, the atmosphere of simple serenity with family and friends is needed by everyone. One of the goals that I have is to develop greater linkage to the community and help to broadly educate the community about what opportunities are available at QHCC. We have a wonderful facility that can be enjoyed by business organizations, educational groups and spiritual communities. I am looking forward to this opportunity."

"A special place apart from the routines of daily life for groups and individuals to nurture the spiritual life" is the mission of Quaker Hill Conference Center, which is available for overnights and day use for business meetings, church groups, spiritual retreats, weddings, etc. Visit www.qhcc.org or contact Rod at rjwaltz@aol.com
